Obituary for Jesse Ragsdale Raines
Jesse Ragsdale Raines age 91, of Altus, Oklahoma died June 28, 1969 at his home in Altus. He was born June 6, 1878 near Henton, Texas to John and Amanda (Crawford) Raines. He moved to southwest Oklahoma in 1898. Jess married Margaret Reid January 14, 1902. He owned Raines Grocery for 50 years, retiring in 1955. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Chamber of Commerce and charter member of the Altus Kiwanis.

Funeral services for Jesse Ragsdale Raines are scheduled for 9:00 am Monday, June 30, 1969 at Tims Chapel, Altus, officiated by Rev. Lonzo Battles. Burial will follow in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Tims Funeral Home.

Jesse Ragsdale is survived by his wife Margaret of the home in Altus; one son Findley Raines, Altus, Oklahoma; one daughter Ina Hockman, New Mexico; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
