Obituary for Jerry Darrell Hamilton
Jerry Darrell Hamilton, age 76 of Altus passed away Sunday, March 4, 2001 in Altus. He was born October 23, 1924 in Bromond, Texas to Clarence and Marie Henderson. Jerry entered the United States Army July of 1943, in Slaton, Texas and was honorably discharged July 31, 1963 at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
He had lived in the Altus community since 1973 moving here from Virginia. He worked for the City of Altus in the Street Department for over 20 years, before he retired.
On April 28, 1999 in Altus, Oklahoma Jerry and Larnetta Tarplin were united in marriage. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in
Altus. Jerry enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and friends.
He survived by his wife Larnetta Hamilton of the home in Altus, two daughters, Arleen Clayton of Altus, Oklahoma, Geraldine Hamilton of Williamsburg, Virginia, four sons, Bobby E. Brown, Jerry L. Hamilton, and Clarence W. Hamilton all of Williamsburg, Virginia, Charles V. Brown of Matthews, Virginia; five step-children Walter Fields III, Richard Fields, Paris Fields, Shirley Williams, Darlene Fields, thirty -four grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 9, 2001 at 2:00pm in the Lowell-Tims funeral Home Chapel with Bro. De. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
