Jennifer Lea Hughes, age 28, of Mangum, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in Humboldt County California.
Jennifer was born on July 6, 1984, in Mangum, to Donald Eugene and Donna Sue (McDonald) Hughes. After beginning school at Edison Elementary, in Mangum, the family moved to Barnsdall, Oklahoma, where she graduated from in 2002. Shortly after graduation, she married James Robert Patrick and began her Certified Nurse’s training. After her divorce, she stayed in the Tulsa area and continued in the nursing field until her health began to fail in May of 2010 when she moved to Mangum. In July 2011 she moved to California and worked until March of 2012, when she returned to Mangum. She had been visiting in California to get her belongings when she suddenly passed away. Jennifer loved being a nurse, helping other people and spending time with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her step grandfather, James Emory Word, she is survived by her son, Noah Emory Hughes of Mangum; her parents, Gene and Donna Hughes of Mangum, two sisters, Angela Marano and husband Omar of Bowring, Oklahoma and Tasha Sickler and husband Louis of Skiatook, Oklahoma; one brother, Donald Jason Hughes of California; grandparents, Ralph and Lois McDonald of Mangum, Barbara Word of Mangum and Farrell Hughes of Mangum; a special friend, Jason Nolan of Arcata, California along with many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Jennifer Hughes will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2012, at the Mangum Church of God with Pastor Jan Ivan Oden officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
