Obituary for Janice Faye Brown
Janice Fay Brown was born on February 3, 1948 to Clifford Hall Willis and Vera Lee (Kooken) Willis in Borger, Tx. Janice would leave Texas as a young girl and she would move around like a gypsy until landing in Ontario, California, where she would meet Samuel Brown a Marine home on furlough before heading out to Vietnam.
Janice was sixteen but her maturity was well, beyond her years, when she and Sam met they took one look at each other and whatever was, was no more. Janice and Sam would be inseparable and they would marry on December 12, 1964 after only knowing each other for thirty-one days and they would celebrate fifty-six years together, and have five children. (Clifford H Brown and Cleta Brown of Mangum, William G Brown and Sandra Brown of Mangum, Penny Rosalez and Paul Rosalez of Blair, Samuel Brown II, and Vera McClellan of Blair). We would move around the countryside until finally ending up in Mangum, Oklahoma where they would live thirty-seven years, but for unforeseen reason Janice and Sam would leave Mangum to move to Granite Oklahoma where they reside today.
Janice/Honey/Mema/Grandma depending on who was addressing her loved, loved, loved, cooking for her family and believe me when we all moved out she still cooked for an Army and you know what? We gave her an Army to feed. We all got married and the babies started flowing. With eleven grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild there were plenty of mouths to feed and mom had no problem feeding us all and enjoyed every minute of it.
It would be fair to say that grandma and grandpa helped raise all their grandchildren in one way or another and their love for their grandchildren was endless. It is for that reason it wouldn’t be fair to leave a single name out so here we go. Kyle Kendall and Acacia Kendall of Sayer, with their family: Evelyn, Colton, Violet, Samuel, and Kaylen. Kellie-Michael and Kayleen of Olustee, with their family: Damien, Chelsea, Coralea, Conlee, Kayden, and Azzyra. Gayla Stowe and Brian Stowe of Altus, with their family: April, Kolby, Daisen, and Micah. Nathan McClellan of Mangum, with his family: Jace. Patrick McClellan of Mangum, with his family: Braxton, and Brae. Christopher Brown and Toni Brown of Pritchett, Colo, with their family: Chris Jr, and Hunter. Timothy of Dumas Tx. Tiffany Rameriz and Gus Rameriz of Vernon Tx, with their family: Elijah, Daniel, and Avlyn. Tosha Olivara of Mangum, with her family: Jordan, Makayla, Jace and great-great grandson Holdyn. Victoria Deathrage and Parris Deathrage of Twentynine Palms, California, Willie Mason of Tulsa, Damian Mason of Tulsa, Alexis Mason of Tulsa.
Janice love beyond cooking was her Love and Faith in Our Heavenly Father to provide for her and her family and it was her faith that saw her through her many illnesses. She and dad were longtime members of the Church of Christ and even when they were not able to attend services they would have services at home. Mom enjoyed her classic country music and if a song came on that she loved you could hear her singing clear to the street but most of all if you could smell pine sol you knew whose house it was coming from before you even got to the house, because mom was all about a clean home and providing to everyone of dads needs before he ever asked. Mom was there for all of us to lean on, to talk to, to comfort us for whatever reason we needed her she was there for all of us.
Mom went to Heaven on April 13, 2020 and waiting for her was her son Samuel L Brown II, along with her parent Clifford H Willis and Vera L Willis, her granddaughter Trena Olivarez, grandson Shann Darden, grandma and grandpa Brown, aunt Maryann, and uncle Richard. They are all dancing, fishing, singing, and eating amazing food that we will all have to wait to enjoy, but if you know Jesus, live for him and know His Truth then we will all be there one day celebrating and hugging mom again.
