Jamie Samantha Smith, age 37, of Altus, passed away April 10, 2014, at her residence, in Altus.
Samantha was born on October 21, 1976, in Cleburne, Texas to James Robert Wallace and Janet Sue Jones. After attending elementary and middle school in Pflugerville, Texas, the family moved to Leander, Texas where she graduated from Leander High School. Samantha later attended Austin Community College, Tarleton State University, Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas where she graduated with honors with a bachelors and masters degree in Animal Reproduction and Animal Health Science. After graduation, she worked as a Veterinarian Technician until moving to Southwest Oklahoma in 2008. On June 10, 2011, she married the love of her life, Wesley Duane Smith and they spent the next three years together before her untimely death. Samantha loved animals of all kinds, especially horses, but most of all, she loved being a wife and mother.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, Samantha is survived by her husband, Wesley, of the home; her mother and stepfather, Janet and Myron Fietz of Kingsland, Texas; her father and stepmother, Jim and Rosemary Wallace of Leander, Texas; her daughter, Savannah Wallace of Altus; one sister, Johnna McQuillan and husband Nathan of Snyder, Texas; one brother, J.R. Wallace of Leander, Texas; her father-in-law, Claude Smith of Altus; three sisters-in-law, Jennifer Birmingham and husband Herbie of Altus, Amy Varnell of Altus and Elaine Montmayer of Joshua, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Butch Smith and fianc" Lonnie Kirkland of Ft. Worth and John Howard of Joshua, Texas; the grandparents of Savannah, Rita and Mike Hawkins of Altus along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Samantha Smith will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Bailey officiating. Inurnment will follow after cremation services, in Texas.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, April 13, 2014, from 4 until 5 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel.
