Obituary for James T. Cox
James Thomas Cox, Sr. 79 passed from this life on Friday, November 27th, 2020 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
James was born in Altus, Oklahoma on April 19, 1941 to his parent, James Steven and Dorotha Frances (Adams) Cox. James grew up in Altus, Oklahoma and he attended Altus High School. James married his sweetheart Darlene (Stone) Cox in 1959 and they spent 61 years together. This marriage was blessed with two children a daughter Vicki, and son Jimmy.
James was an entrepreneur, owning several different businesses. He was a custom wheat harvester, car salesman, mobile home dealer, upholster, and owned car business. He was very driven to provide for his wife and children, everything he did was to provide a better life for them.
He was a proud member of the First Baptist Church of Altus for the last twelve years. Of all his accomplishments and accolades he was must proud on Sunday mornings when his entire family would occupy an entire pew in church.
He was also very well known for being a wood craftsman. He built many farmhouse tables for his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, James Steven and Dorotha Frances (Adams) Cox; brothers, Sammie Cox, Johnny Cox, Richard Cox, Billy Cox; and Granddaughter Jamie Caye Cox;
Left to honor James's memory are his beloved wife Darlene (Stone) Cox of the home; Daughter, Vicki Cox McIntyre and husband Don, Son, Jimmy Cox and wife Rhonda; nine grandchildren, DJ Edmonson, Spenser Kelm, Kaylor McIntyre, Caitlyn Cox and Nevin Lawson, Baylee Cox, Maddie Kelm- Cox, Ethan Kelm, Kutter Kelm, and Emma Kelm.
