James Michael Parton, age 59, of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 1, 2010, at his home.
Jim was born on February 17, 1951, in Mangum, to John Calvin and Dorothea (Hawkins) Parton. Spending all of his school years in Mangum, he graduated from Mangum High in 1969. Following high school, he attended Panhandle State College in Goodwell, Oklahoma, graduating in 1973. While there, he met Linda Sue Omo and they were married in Hugoton, Kansas on May 20, 1972. After graduation they established their first home in Mangum and Jim began operating a farming and cattle operation, west of Mangum, until his death.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two sons, Jason Parton and wife Jacki and daughters Sierra and Shayla, of Guymon and Gary Parton and wife Shana of Elk City; one sister, Cathy Flanagan and husband Larry Don of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one nephew, Kevin Flanagan and wife Stephanie and their son K.J. of Stevensville, Maryland; one niece, Katie King and husband Dave and their boys, Justice and Devin of Tulsa along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jim Parton will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
