Obituary for James Clyde Duncan
James Clyde Duncan, 80, lifetime resident of Altus, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2011. He was born February 1, 1930 in Altus, Oklahoma to Clyde and Stella Lavonia (Campbell) Duncan. He married Doris Jo Shive in Alabama in 1951. He proudly served his country with the US Army from 1952 until 1954 before returning to his home in Altus.
Mr. Duncan worked for the Civil Service as a Hospital Plant Manager as well as being self-employed as an Appliance Repairman. He loved woodworking and was an exceptional cabinet maker. He generously and lovingly gave his time and talent to remodel the cabinets at Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents. James is survived by his wife Doris of the home; three sons, Jimmy and Jeanie Duncan of Edmond, Oklahoma, Kenny and Candace Duncan of Meeker, Oklahoma, and Russell Duncan and Lana Allen of Altus; six brothers and sisters, Bobbie and Richard Ebel, Sam and Margie Duncan, Betty and Lynn Brown, Carolyn and Roy Duff, all of Altus, Jerry Don and Carole Duncan of Branson, Missouri and Jack and Anita Duncan of Norman. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Bryan Duncan, Denise Kramer, Micol Merriman, Chase Duncan, Tracy Duncan and Sierra Duncan; four great-grandchildren, Kylie Kramer, Addison Kramer, Cayden Duncan and Cole Duncan; and by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Gregory Hawn officiating. Interment will follow in the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
