Obituary for James Austin
James Austin, age 70 passed away Wednesday September 19, 2001 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born January 12, 1931 in Louisiana.
James entered the United States Army May 1, 1948 in Alexanderia, Louisiana. He was honorably discharged October 5, 1955 in Ft. Hood Texas.
On January 18, 1965 in Vernon, Texas James and Earline Hill were united in marriage. She preceded him in death November 10, 1999.
James lived in the Altus area for many years. He worked at the Cotton Compress and for the Department of Human Services for several years. He also worked in the construction business in the Lawton area.
After retiring he enjoyed playing dominoes and fishing, spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother Nona Dyas of Altus, Oklahoma, two daughters, Donna Kay Scott of Taft, Oklahoma, Paula Kennedy of Altus, Oklahoma, one brother of Huntsville, Texas, one aunt Elva Mae Davis of Houston, Texas, three sister-in laws; Jeweline Hill of Altus, Oklahoma, Larentta Hamilton of Altus, Oklahoma. Ramona Filer and husband Martin of Galveston, Texas, two brother-in-laws; Charles Hill of Altus, Oklahoma William Turner of Kansas City, Missouri, a special cousin Jeroldine Reaglin of Houston, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, wife, one son and one sister.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 2:00pm in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Elder De Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
