Jaleel Iman Foy", II, 17, of Altus, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Jaleel was born February 26, 1995, in Altus, to Jaleel and Carolyn Sue (Nichols) Foy". He lived all his life in Altus and was a Senior at Altus High School. He loved sports, including basketball, football, and track. He also refereed basketball for the City of Altus League. Jaleel took pride in his role as a referee and was committed to being fair and honest. He adored his younger siblings and loved teaching them how to play basketball and football. Jaleel loved to fish and listen to all kinds of music.
Jaleel was very well liked by all who knew him. A tribute in the Bulldog Collar Newspaper, written by Kadi Henry, Michelle Bonewitz, and Allie Cox, was a wonderful commentary on his life. Students and teachers alike respected his athleticism and positive attitude. Jaleel's smile was infectious, and he had such a sweet, gentle spirit. He was able to communicate and teach kids with all backgrounds and skill levels. He never judged others and was good at lifting up the spirits of anyone who was feeling down. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by his grandfather, Glenn Hawkins, Jaleel is survived by his father, Jaleel Foy" of Wichita, Kansas; his mother and step-father, Carolyn and LeRoy Welch of Altus; his siblings, Richard Nichols of Altus, Hassan Foy" of Altus, Iman Foy" of Wichita, Kansas, Kaalon Welch and Kaason Welch, both of Altus, Xania Foy" and Qadir Foy", both of Wichita, Kansas; his grandparents, Ruby Hawkins of Altus, Audrey Coleman and James Coleman, both of Wichita, Larry Foy" of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Bob and Terri Phifer of Wichita; the love of his life, Marissa Aguero, of Altus; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Jaleel's name be made for funeral arrangements at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. There has also been a fund opened in Jaleel's name at First State Bank of Altus.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 28.
