Obituary for Jacqueline Janette Gibson
Jacqueline Janette Gibson of Altus, went to rest in God's loving embrace on March 9, 2022. She departed this life from the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Jackie was 59 years old at the time of her transition. Arrangements have been entrusted to care of the Lowell- Tims Funeral Home & Crematory of Altus.
Jackie was born in Clinton, Oklahoma on December 31, 1962 to Emory Hunt and Dorothy Gibson. Raised by her great- aunt Rena Smith, Jackie grew up in altus and finished her general education there. She was blessed with three handsome sons: Demetrice, Emery and Jeremy and a beautiful daughter, Jahlyssa. Jackie took great pride in being a strong mother and role model. She also raised Angie, Maurice, Orlando, Sharena and Tausha. She loved them all just as much as her own children.
During her work career, Jackie worked as a cook at Wilson Elementary and was employed at OK-1 Manufacturing, where she a seamstress. She recently retired from Altus Air Force Base lodging, where she served as a team leader in the housekeeping division for many years.
Outside of work, Jackie enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, and gardening. With Jackie, it was always "family first". She loved attending family gatherings, cooking and preparing, spending time, having fun and overseeing things for her loved ones. An extremely strong-willed and outspoken woman, Jackie had a big heart and dedicated a lot her time helping others and making sure everyone around her felt loved whether they were family or not. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and generosity and she will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Welcoming Jackie into Heaven's gates are her parents, her brother, Greg Hunt; her sister, Debra Nowlin; and her beloved great-aunt, Rena Smith.
Left to cherish the warmth of her everlasting memory are her daughter, Jahlyssa Gibson; her three sons: Demetrice Gibson; Jeremy Gibson and his wife, Lupe; and Emery Gibson (Tenzie); her brothers, Stanley Gibson (Betty); Ivory Gibson, Dewayne Hunt, Kenard Hunt, and Derrick Hunt; a sister, Cynthia Gibson; her grandchildren: Malik, Jaylik, Bobby, Derrianna, Anasta' jah, Kelvis, Aaliyah, Raylon, Junior and Amorie; one great-grandchild: Bella; step-father of Jackie's children, Darrell "Pops" Naff, her Aunt Earline Lewis and a host nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2022 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma.
