J.H. Heatly, born in 1942 in Mangum, Oklahoma, to Naomi and Hilma Heatly. J.H. lived a life defined by faith, family, and dedication to the land he loved.
He attended Reed Schools from primary grades through high school, graduating as salutatorian of his class — an early reflection of his strong work ethic and steady determination.
J.H. married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn in 1960, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned 65 beautiful years. Together they built a life rooted in love and hard work,. A lifelong farmer and rancher in Greer County, J.H. was deeply enriched by working the land alongside his father. He carried forward that agricultural legacy throughout his life, remaining committed to the farming and ranching lifestyle.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. J.H. served faithfully as an elder for several decades, offering spiritual leadership, wisdom, and quiet strength to his church family and community.
He also was committed to the education system and served on the school board for several yrs.He also with his commitment to the land served on the FSA board as well.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hilma Heatly; his mother, Naomi Heatly; and his sister, Martyne.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Carolyn; his daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Joe Zachariah; his son, Rod Heatly; and his son, Ryan Heatly, along with Ryan’s wife, Amy, and one granddaughter, Cyane. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, integrity, and love that will continue through his family.
JH will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
