Obituary for J. Leo Herring
Mr. J. Leo Herring, age 76, long time resident of Altus, died Friday at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services have been set for 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Lowell Memorial Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Carl McCoy. Burial will be at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born April 5th, 1907 in Palimto County, TX, he was married at Frederick on November 16, 1941 to the former Leona Moss who survives of the home. He retired as District Fire Chief, serving some 26 and one years with the City Fire Dept, was a member of Odd Fellow 134 and Past District Deputy Grand Master of Oklahoma and a former member of the Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Additional survivors include: one son, Edwin Dale Cox, Sr. of Ashgrove, MI; one daughter, Mrs. Shirley Smith of Lubbock, TX; one brother, Ernest Herring of Wilton, CA; one sister, Audry Wommack of Lawton; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
