Ina Mae (Hamilton) Southall, age 90, passed away Monday, March 26, 2007 at English Village Manor, where she had resided, due to failing health since December, 2003. Ina Mae was born November 15, 1916 in Telephone, Texas to James and Della (Alexander) Hamilton. The only daughter in a family of six children.
Ina originally came to Jackson county as a little girl in 1927. She attended school at Humphreys and Porter High School. After many years of farming cotton the family moved to the Calumet/ El Reno Oklahoma area.
Starting in 1942 Ina worked at the Douglas Aircraft Plant as a skilled reviter for over 3 1/2 years during WW II, building C-47 's. A true Rosie Riveter.
Ina Married Minor Southall on September 22, 1945. she then began her career as a wife, mother and homemaker. She and Minor were married for 53 years and continued to live on their farm.
preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Ins is survived by her,children, Linda of Seattle Wa. and husband Richard of Edmond OK. one granddaughter Becky and Husband Todd Vess of Ok. grandsons, Scott Hill and Dan Hill of Edmond Ok. one great-granddaughter, Caitlin, and one great grandson Logan.
Services for Ina Southall will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Dan Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 6:00 until 7:30 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
