Obituary for Ida Jo Southall
Ida Jo Southall, 90, Altus, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at her home.
Ida Jo (Spears) Southall was born on May 21, 1935, in Friendship, Oklahoma to Leroy and Ida Lucy (Smith) Spears. She was the youngest of seven children and the only Okie. Ida Jo grew up in Altus and graduated from Altus High School with the Class of 1954. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma College before marrying Glenn Southall, the love of her life, in Altus on August 29, 1959. Ida Jo was a homemaker and served as a Kay Club sponsor, a Beta Mother, and was a member of the Erolethean Women's Group. She was a longtime member of the First Methodist Church in Altus and was a part of many of the church's groups and activities including the Women's Circle. Ida Jo's hospitality was unmatched. Her home was warm and inviting, and she always made sure everyone had something to eat and felt comfortable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ida Lucy Spears; her husband, Glenn; an infant son; and her siblings, Opal Tate, Lillian Borum, Horace Spears, Leroy Spears, Woodrow Spears, and Joy Spears.
Those left to honor her memory are her children, Brent Southall and wife, Debbie, Kelly Southall and wife, Robin, and Kristi Jo Graham and husband, Jeffrey; her grandchildren, Caitlyn Blair Ward and husband, Caleb, Robert Read Southall and wife, Madi, Tyler Bucksath, Chelsea Ward and husband, Zach, Aaron Elliott, Colin Layne Graham and wife, Jill, Jason Kyle Graham, and Clay Don Graham; seven great grandchildren, Jax Ward, Dalli Ward, Sunny Southall, Laynie Graham, Augustus Graham, Auje Ward, Zayd Ward, and one more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other family, and a host of friends.
The Southall family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. A celebration of Ida Jo's life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the First Methodist Church in Altus with Rev. Jerry Raab officiating. Arrangements are under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
