Obituary for Howard Wayne Shutt
Howard Wayne Shutt, age 86 of Altus, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Altus.
He was born January 18, 1922 in Columbus, Kansas to Zora Bell (Smith) Shutt and George Graham Shutt.
Howard had lived in Columbus, Kansas for many years before moving to Altus.
He served his country with the Army Air Corp and was honorably discharged.
On May 10, 1974, in Altus, Oklahoma, Howard and Mattie Harris were united in marriage. Howard worked at Altus Air Force Base with Civil Service where he was the Fire Chief for the base. He retired January 31, 1978. Howard was a longtim member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Kansas; and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
HE is survived by his loving wife Mattie of the home in Altus, Oklahoma; two sons, George F. Shutt of Ephrata, Washington, Wayne H. Shutt and wife Trudy of Graham, Washington; one daughter Sheryll Etheridge and husband Mike of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Graveside Services for Howard Wayne Shutt are scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Edgmand Cemetery in Columbus, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
