Obituary for Homer Groves
Homer Groves, 82, passed away Friday, March 17, 1995 in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was born December 26, 1912 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Jack and Virginia (Day) Groves. He moved to this as a young man.
On July 4, 1938, Homer and Omega Hunter were united in marriage at Gould, Oklahoma. Mr Groves retired from Green's Motor Company where he had been parts manager. He was proud to have served International Harvester for over 35 years. Homer was a veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church. He had been a member of the Civil Air Partol, Kiwanis Club and he Masonic Lodge. One of his favorite pastimes was working in his backyard.
Mr. Groves was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Omega, his wife of 56 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bill Massingale of Eunice, New Mexico; and Carolyn and Larry Cottingham of Edmond, Oklahoma; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Shirley Groves of Hobart, Oklahoma; and Randy and Suzie Groves of Roseville, California; two brothers, Paul Groves of Wasco, California; and Bill Day of Austin, Texas; as well as 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
