Hobart Lee Scott

Hobart Lee Scott , 88, formerly of Altus, died Friday, July 18, 1997, at the Altus House Convalescent Center in Altus. A private family Memorial Service was held Friday morning, July 18, 1997 at the Lowell Tims Chapel in Altus.

Hobart Scott was born June 13, 1909, in Eldorado, Oklahoma to Jesse Levi and Asie Belle (Stice) Scott. He grew up in the Eldorado community and later moved to Altus. He married Julia (Magness) Spears January 9 1943 in Abilene, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1989.

Hobart worked for the Chickasha Cotton Oil Mill in Altus for many years before joining the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He served as a SSgt. with the 77th Observation Group Liaison Flight "Flying Tigers" in the China Berma India Theatre. Hobart worked in several different occupations before and after the war. He retired from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas as a proofreader.

He is survived by one brother Jesse E Scott of Eldorado, Oklahoma; two sisters, Clara Roache of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Marquerite Bateman of Eldorado, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Julie Margaret Lamb of Richardson Texas. and a host of nieces and nephews.

Hobart was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Julia, five sisters, Viola Estes, Buelah Martin, Rosa Mitchell, Thelma Gilmore and Lena Stewart.
