Hector Reyes Bravo, age 51, passed away on January 7 2026. He was born on March 7 1974 in Mexico City, Mexico, and lived a life defined by devotion to his family, his work, and the values of responsibility, service, and love.
Hector was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather. From a young age, he learned the meaning of discipline and perseverance. Becoming self-sufficient at just sixteen years old, he supported himself through junior high school by running a small candy stand while attending Ignacio Manuel Altamirano School, completing the 9th grade. These early lessons shaped a man who believed deeply in routines, hard work, and personal responsibility.
At age eighteen, Hector completed his military service in the Mexican Army, and by age twenty-three he entered the Police Academy, beginning a career in law enforcement that he viewed not as a job, but as a calling. His service was rooted in honor and pride, and he carried that same dedication into every role he held throughout his life.
At 17 years old, Hector met the love of his life, Luz Maria Valladares. They were married on August 21 1997 in Mexico City, beginning a partnership marked by deep affection, mutual respect, and unwavering devotion. Hector’s love for his wife was boundless. She was his world, and together they built a life centered on family and faithfulness.
Seeking a better future for his children and determined to rise above the poverty and limited resources of his youth, Hector made the courageous decision to move to the United States. He found a slower, calmer pace of life in Oklahoma, where he built a respected career as a professional landscaper. Working outdoors became both his livelihood and his joy. He took great pride in his work and was especially grateful to share it alongside his son and son in law.
Hector loved music, dancing, soccer, and spending time at arcades, especially playing Street Fighter. After long days of work, he could often be found at home playing with his children, tending to his garden, or working side by side with his wife, cultivating not just the land, but the life they shared together.
Above all else, Hector was a provider and protector. He cared deeply for his family and extended that same kindness to strangers who often became friends, and family. One of his greatest joys was meeting his grandson, Santos Reyes Tapia, whose birth brought him immense pride and happiness.
Hector is survived by his beloved wife, Luz Maria Valladares; his children, Jose Luis Reyes Valladares, Jacqueline Reyes Valladares, David Reyes Valladares, and Joel Reyes Valladares; his son in law, Gerardo Tapia; and his treasured grandson, Santos Reyes Tapia. He is also survived by his father, Rosendo Rodolfo Reyes Diaz, and family members Maribel Reyes and Rosa Maria Bravo.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanca Esthela Bravo Delgado; his sister, Silvia Reyes; and his brother, Armando Reyes.
Hector Reyes Bravo leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, service, and unwavering dedication to family. His life was a testament to resilience, humility, and the quiet strength of a man who gave everything he had for those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
