Georgia Leona Paxton, 89, of Mangum passed away early Thursday morning, April 13, 2017 at Quartz Mountain Medical Center, in Mangum.
Mrs. Paxton was born in Logan County Arkansas on July 29, 1927 to George Martin and Zella Mae (Gilliam) Catlett. Moving to Beckham County Oklahoma as a young child, she was a graduate of Plainview High School. Georgia married the love of her life, Charles Edwin Paxton, on December 25, 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2015 after seventy-one wonderful years together. Living in Texas for a time, Charlie and Georgia moved from Whiteface, Texas to Mangum in 1958. Georgia worked as a Physical Therapist Assistant for several years at Propps Nursing Home and at the Mangum Hospital. A loving sister, mother and grandmother, Georgia loved to cook and work in her yard, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mrs. Paxton was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Betty Jo Watson and a grandson, Darren Charles Paxton. She is survived by four children, Gary Paxton and wife Lynda of Mangum, Darlia Norton and husband Junior of Jaybuckle, Phil Paxton of Mangum and Suzie Paxton of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren, April Paxton, Cary Norton and wife Ginger, Dana Rieger and husband Sean, Shawn Norton and wife Tina, Phillip Paxton and wife Jill and Jennifer Paxton; ten great grandchildren, Emily Paulson, Clayton Rieger, Travis Rieger, Grant Rieger, Paxton Norton, Joseph Norton, Deidra Paxton, Maggie Paxton, Rory Paxton and Ian Paxton; two great-great grandchildren, Mattie and Skye; one sister, Sondra May and husband Tommy of Wylie, Texas along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Georgia Paxton will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor David Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5 until 6 p.m.
