Funeral services for George Lawson McKeaigg, 95, Enid, formerly of Altus, will be Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Kent McKeaigg officiating. Private family graveside services will be held prior to the service at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus and Brown-Cummings Funeral Home of Enid, Oklahoma. George will lie in state at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home through Monday evening, November 9th. He will lie in state Tuesday, November 10th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., all day Wednesday, and Thursday until noon at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
George was born on April 24, 1914, in Putnam, Oklahoma, the son of Oscar C. and Augusta Alice (Lawson) McKeaigg. He died Friday evening, November 6, 2009, at Golden Oaks Nursing Home. George moved with his parents to Clinton, Oklahoma, in 1930 where he completed school in Clinton and then attended Southwestern University in Weatherford.
George married Emma E. Scarce on March 7th, 1936, in Arapaho, Oklahoma. George served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked for Cities Service Oil Company until 1940. George moved to Altus in 1941 where he worked as director of the Farmers Home Administration Loan Program. He served in that position for over thirty years and retired in 1975.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus since 1941 where he was a Chairman of the Deacons, the church finance committee, and also serving in several areas of the church. George was a member of the Altus Rotary Club.
George is survived by one son, Ronald L. McKeaigg and wife Carolyn of Enid; four grandchildren, Kevin McKeaigg of Tulsa, Kristy Black of Texas, Kent McKeaigg and wife Emily of Dallas, Texas, Kobie Moore and husband Travis of Beaverton, Oregon, and four great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, on August 20, 2005, his parents, one son, George Lyle McKeaigg, two brothers, and three sisters.

Memorials may be made in George"s memory to First Baptist Church of Altus with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund. Condolences may be made to the family online at Brown-Cummings.com
