Obituary for George L. Box
George L. Box was born March 28th, 1927 at Tulia, Texas. He died January 30th, 1994 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. He was the son of Gladys and George Lemon Box, Sr. He married Betty Russell May 30, 1947 at Vernon, TX. He was a longtime resident of Altus and Blair. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. He owned and operated George Box Heating and Air Conditioning from 1959 to 1990 when he retired.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Robert officiating. Interment will be in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Box of the home in Blair, Oklahoma; two children, Mark Box and wife Sherry of Mangum, OK and Leslie Box Taylor and husband Lane; one brother, Charles Box of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Helen Rosenbaum of Edmond, OK; six grandchildren, Rhett Box, Brandon Cross, Ryan Box, Reade Box, and Lacey and Tim Taylor.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Gladys Box.
