Obituary for George Earnest Goff
George E. Goff, 75, of Altus, passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
George was born July 5, 1934, in Valley Creek, Tennessee, to George W. and Linda (Partin) Goff. He graduated from Valley Creek High School in 1952 and joined the United States Air Force in 1955. He retired form the military after twenty years of service in 1975. He also served fifteen years in Civil Service at Altus Air Force Base. During his tenure in the military, he served several tours as a firefighter in Arkansas, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines.
George married Bridgett Barron September 20, 1958, in St. Albans, England. She preceded him in death December 30, 1985.
He is survived by his son, George B. Goff and wife Oriella of Alexandra, Virginia; his life long friends, Norma Byrum of Altus and Steve and Alice Wilson, also of Altus. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many other friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bridgett, five brothers, and one sister.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Graveside Service will be held 2:00 pm., Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Altus City Cemetery with Chaplain Erin Martinez officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
