Obituary for Gary William King Sr.
Gary William King, Sr. age 60, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Gary was born September 6, 1950 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Louis Henry and Mable Ophelia (Drake) King. He graduated from Crooked Oak High School in 1968. He served two years in the US Army, 12 months of which were served in Vietnam. Upon his return he worked for Sutherland Lumber, Wicks Lumber, Big L. and Fox Lumber where he managed the store in Altus, Oklahoma for 25 years.
He married Barbara J. Hall on March 1, 1974 at the Jordan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather and his family was always first. Gary loved to hunt and fish with his brothers at Fox Lumber. He will always be with us in our hearts and the memories we have will suffice until we meet him in heaven.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jim Fox, Mark Hoskins, and Chris Poindexter for their moral and spiritual support.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis King, November 24, 1989; his mother, Mable King March 4, 2002; two brothers, Robert King, December 4, 1963 and Roy King August 4, 1996.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Barbara of the home in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma; one son, Gary King and wife Tracy of Olustee, Oklahoma; two daughters, Melissa Snarr and husband David of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Amanda King of the home in Lone Wolf; two sisters, Bonnie and Russell Pierce of Moore, Oklahoma and Janie King of Mesquite, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Ronnie Drake and Chris Poindexter officiating. Burial will be in the McGee Cemetery in Stratford, Oklahoma at 4:00 pm Thursday afternoon. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
