Obituary for Gary W. Pierce
Gary Wayne Pierce, 76, lifelong resident of Hollis, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday August 27, 2022 at Colonial Manor II in Hollis, Oklahoma.
Gary was born October 16, 1945 to Rueben Garfield and Lula Viola Pierce in Hollis, Oklahoma. He was the fourteenth of sixteen children born into the Pierce family. Gary was raised with his siblings on their family farm near Ron, Oklahoma. In 1956, the Pierce family sold the farm and the family relocated to Hollis, Oklahoma. After high school graduation, Gary was drafted into the United States Army where he served in Vietnam as a helicopter mechanic. He worked hard and diligently to see that the helicopters were always in tip top shape and were ready to fly at a moment’s notice. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to Hollis, Oklahoma. Upon his return he started working for Bobby Faulks Well Service. He served Faulks for over forty years until for health reasons he had to retire. Gary was highly intelligent and a mechanical genius. He enjoyed studying manuals and reading novels. He had an affinity for Western novels had read every Louis L'Amour book. He also enjoyed watching television westerns.
Although Gary never had children he loved and cared deeply for each and every one of his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Rueben Garfield Pierce, Lula Viola Pierce; fourteen of his siblings, Clyde, R.G., Newton, Tex, Rex, Baby Pierce, Danny, Bill, Winona, Margaret Fern, Juanita, Genevieve, Joann, and Linda.
Left to honor his memory are his sister, Helen Robinson; Nieces and Nephews, Teresa Davis, Tammy Bynum, Kent Robinson, Ricky Robinson, Raymond Burditt, Patricia Johnson, John Darland, Kimberly Bell, Tammy Pierce, Sabrina Pantoja, Rocky Pierce, Letitia Malone, Alan Pierce, Don Hicks and Darrell Hicks; a host of numerous cousins, other extend family, colleagues, and friends.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Harmon County Funeral Home, Hollis, Oklahoma.
