Obituary for Franklin Reeves Miller
Franklin Reeves Miller, age 89 resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away from this life Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma.
Franklin was born in Kingston, New York on April 16, 1931 to his parents Frank and Florence (Wadge) Miller. At the age of 8 years old he met the love of his life in elementary school. On March 29, 1953 Frank married Betty (Mowle) Miller in Bloomington, New York. He graduated from Kingston High School in 1948. In 1951, Franklin enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy he was stationed in California and Korea. Upon his discharge from the Navy he enlisted in the United States Air Force Franklin worked as an Air Traffic controller in the United States Air Force. He served many deployments across the world setting up Air Traffic Controller towers for remote airports. In 1965, Frank and his family were stationed in Turkey before moving to Altus, Oklahoma. He retired from the Air Force on August 1, 1971 as a Senior Master Sergeant. Upon Frank’s retirement he and his family started raising paint horses on their twenty aces of property East of Blair. He was a Life member in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was even the Post Commander from 1974 to 1976. Frank was always fascinated with Airplanes and even learned how to put remote control airplanes together but most of all he loved to fly them. When Frank was not working on a remote-control air plane or flying one, he would be spending time with his loving family.
Franklin is preceded in death by his father, Frank Miller and mother, Florence (Wadge) Miller; and brothers, Bobby Miller and Bill Miller.
He is survived by his wife Betty L. Miller of the home; son, Jim Miller; daughters, Cindy Vinson and Jodi Brownlee; grandchildren, Kyle Ballou, Lyle Ballou, Kevin Vinson, Mindy West, Shawn Baxter, Megan Miller; great-grandchildren, Landon Ballou, Addison Ballou, Kaylyn Ballou, Kristopher Ballou, Kaden Ballou, Malerie Thomason, Ethan Thomason, Rachel Ballew, Reagan Ballew, Gavin West, Jared Grindstaff, Braelyn Cox, Emmalyn Cox; nephews, Steven Miller, Bobby Miller, and Todd Miller.
