Obituary for Francis Elizabeth Cox
Francis Elizabeth (Fanny) Cox passed away Wednesday, December 14, 1995 in Altus. Services are scheduled for Monday, December 18, 1995, at 11:00am in the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Pate officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs Cox was born June 30 1899 in Nashville, Tennessee to James Knox and Mamie (Killmartin) Polk, Jr. After the death of her parents, she was brought to Oklahoma in 1908 where she was raised by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Know Polk, Sr. she was a direct descendant of the 11th president of the United States of America.
she graduated from Frederick High School. In 1918 she married Vernon Campbell. Four children were born to them. In 1940 she married Sam Cox. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by two infant sons, Vernon Franklin and John Vernon Campbell.
Mrs. Cox is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Eula and Jack Barnes of Altus, one son and daughter-in-law, Curran and Mary Campbell of Montgomery, Texas, seven grandchildren, fourteen great=grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, Sunday Evening, December 17, 1995, from 7:00pm-8:00pm.
