Obituary for Frances Jewel Mitchell
Frances Jewel Strother Mitchell was born March 18th, 1903 in Indian Territory. She died November 29th, 1992 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of N. B. and Bertha Strother. She married Louis Mitchell on January 1, 1922 at Martha, OK and he preceded her in death in 1956. She was a life long resident of Jackson County. She spent 55 years working as a salesperson in Altus. She was a member of the Martha Baptist Church for 50 years where she taught Sunday School. She later moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in Altus.
Services are scheduled for 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 2, 1992 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment will be in the Martha Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Louis Mitchell; her parents, N.B. and Bertha Strothers; three sisters, Opal Eskridge, Hazel Johnson and Pearl Marrisette.
Survivors include: two children, Nelda Yates of Altus, Oklahoma and Doris Stillar of Spokane, WA; two brothers, Wayne Strother and his wife Elnora of Arion, Iowa and Bart Strother and his wife June of Altus, OK; three sisters, Jodie Strother Eskridge of Dennison, Iowa, Ruth Gadd and husband Floyd of Memphis, TN and Lola B. and husband Don Menneally of Norwalk, CA; five grandchildren, Ann Forsyth of Norman, OK, John Yates of Eufaula, OK, Jim Yoho of Spokane, WA, Jean Yoho of Seattle, WA and Donna Gorman of Stevensville, Montana.
