Obituary for Forrest Gene Reid
Forrest Gene Reid, age 72, and a long time resident of Altus, passed away July 14, 2001 in Oklahoma City. Forrest was born to John Wesley and Helen Ruth Reid, north of Altus, on February 28, 1929. He married Oma Lee "Calhoun" on May 14, 1979, in Hollis, Oklahoma. He was a self employed farmer and rancher and was also retired from mineral drilling. He enjoyed raising Herefords, flying his Cessna and also building and flying ultra light planes. He will be missed by a host of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Oma Lee Reid of Altus, Oklahoma; his three children, Joyce Perryman of Altus, Oklahoma, Virginia Ann Maloney of Grand Junction, Colorado and Albert Wayne Reid of Grand Junction, Colorado; and two step-daughters, Deborah Kay Compton of Redondo Beach, California and Carla Mary Lisle of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one step-son Tracy Alan Holland of Edmond, Oklahoma; one sister, Flora Nell Deatherage of Altus, Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenneth Reid of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Gary Reid of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Leann Gross, Kelly Perryman, Allyssa Maloney, David Maloney, Allison Blevins, Ashley Reid, 1st Lt.Todd Holland, Chad Holland, Taylor Holland Audrey Lisle and three great grandchildren, Savannah Holland, Taylor Marie Gross and Kaden Matthew Gross. He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.
Forrest was preceded in death by step-son, Major Travis Dale Holland; brother, Ross; sister, Joyce and both of his parents.
Services are set for 2:00pm Tuesday at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Altus City Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Osborne will officiate.
