Floyd Sylvester Horn, Jr., age 71, of Altus, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mr. Horn was born in Flat River, Missouri on August 19, 1942, to Floyd Sylvester, Sr. and Impo Denise (Dunn) Horn. After graduating from high school, Mr. Horn entered the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for over twenty-one years. His duty stations included Okinawa, Viet Nam and the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Floyd was honorably discharged on January 31, 1983, at Los Angeles Air Force Base. Moving to Altus in the mid 1990"s, he met Judy (Graves) Vig and they were married on June 23, 1997. After working a short time at Foxes Lumber, Floyd retired due to his health. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching old westerns and eating out.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Jean Herren and Dorris Boland and two step children, Teresa Osborne and Scott Wert, he is survived by his wife Judy, of the home; three children, Michelle Burke of Oregon, Sheri Lane and husband Jimmy of Missouri and Lisa Moore and husband Gregg of South Carolina; ten grandchildren, Breiana, Rebecca, Steven Michael, Curtis Mark, Caitlyn, Baylee, Jordan, Willie, Jacob and Tara; three great grandchildren, Kevin, Jr., Tyler and Colton; one brother, Loran Horn of Illinois; two sisters, Ruth Bradley of Crosby, Texas and Judith Horn of Long Beach, California along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Floyd Horn will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 7, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Judith Horn officiating. Private interment will follow at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
