Faye Snell Ridling
Faye Snell Ridling was born march 18, 1903 in a dugout near Doxey, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Oklahoma pioneer parents, C.C. and Lillian Perry. She was one of thirteen children. She died October 28, 1993 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. After graduating from Elk City High School, she attended college in Weatherford, Oklahoma and the taught penmanship in Elk City. She married Henry De Witt Snell in 1925 and helped establish the United Cash Grocery Stores in southwest Oklahoma and Vernon, Texas. They lived in Cordell, Oklahoma 12 years and moved to Vernon, Texas a short time before settling in Altus. She was preceded in death by Mr. Snell in 1955. She later married Raymond Ridling and resided in Sentinel, Oklahoma where she was active in the community for twenty-six years. He preceded her in death in 1983. Faye returned to Altus in 1983 where she was active in the First Baptist Church Choir and the Erolethian Club.
Services are Monday at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Wiginton officiating. Interment is in the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Feed the Children, Box 36, Oklahoma or the Baptist Family Care Ministry-3800 North May, Oklahoma city Oklahoma 73112.
Faye is survived by her children, Bea Pope of Edmond, Oklahoma; Jim Snell of Mr. Park, Oklahoma; Perry Snell of Enid, Oklahoma; Margaret Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; brothers Guy Perry of Altus, Oklahoma; Clarence Perry of Portland, Oregon; Paul Perry of Mesa Arizona; Coleman Perry of Fresno, California; sisters, Eleanor Newcomb of Madera, California; Helen Jo Baxter, of Anderson, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Robert, Sara, Ann, Susan, Richard, Ronnie, Linda, Mark, Betsy, Ruth and Jay; twenty-one great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Jack Snell of Vernon, Texas; Mr. Ridling;s daughter, Wanda Boone of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Blanche, Mabel, Clara, and ollie; one brother, Clive Perry.
