Obituary for Evelyn Long
Evelyn Long was born on December 24, 1932 near Granite, Oklahoma to Ernest and Oleva Howard. She grew up in the Lugert and Friendship communities, graduating from Friendship High School. She married Paul Edward Long on July 3, 1951. She worked as a Southwestern Bell telephone operator during the 1950s and then as a homemaker and full time mom to their daughter, Shearl. Evelyn was a member of the Altus First Baptist Church where she was a faithful Sunday School preschool teacher for over forty years. Ms. Evelyn's passion was to make sure that every child knew that Jesus loved them. She was also an instrumental member in th beginning phases of the prayer and television ministries. Her hobbies were her grandchildren, photo albums, and baking. Not only did she create family albums, but also historical albums. She also owned a collection of blue ribbons for her apple pies that she entered at the county fairs. She was a perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman.

She is preceded in death by her Husband Paul, her parents, Ernest Howard, Oleva Wisdom, and stepfather, Lee Wisdom; Her sisters and their husbands, Helen and B.J. Martin, and Melva and George Hurt, and nephew, Alan Martin.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Shearl Davis and husband Mike; two grandchildren, Crystal McDowell and husband Tyler, and Mickey Davis; three great-grandchildren, Kanin, Sadie, and Cooper McDowell; nephews Mike Martin and Bill Hurt; cousins Janet Couillard and husband Dick, Georgeanna Hurt, Teri Studer and husband Dean, and Monica Brinlee and husband Larry.
