Obituary for Etta A. Puckett
Etta Puckett, age 102, one of Altus' oldest residents, died February 12th, 1994 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born Etta Almeda Sangster, October 12, 1891 at Franklin, Arkansas to George and Mary (Beavers) Sangster. She was the oldest of four daughters. She married John Thomas Puckett at Franklin, Arkansas, July 14, 1914 and he preceded her in death October 23, 1961. She lived in Colorado, Texas and Arkansas before moving to Altus in 1933, where Mr. Puckett owned and managed Central Pharmacy in the Gosselin Building, now NBC Building. They were known in Altus as "Uncle John and Aunt Etta". She was a member of the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ where she attended regularly. She loved fishing and gardening and was a charter member of the Rose Unit of the Altus Garden Club where she sewrved as President.

Services are scheduled for 10 A.M. Monday at the Elm & Hudson Church of Christ with Bill Osborne and Ed Lobaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John Thomas Puckett, October 23, 1961; a grandson, John Howard Jay Moreau, October 4, 1979.

Survivors include: two children, Gladys Moreau of Altus, Oklahoma and Edward Puckett of Buena Vista, CO; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
