Esther Elizabeth Davis, age 95, of Sayre, formerly of Carter, Oklahoma, passed away early Sunday morning, April 12, 2015, at Hensley Nursing Home, in Sayre.
Mrs. Davis was born in Canadian County, Oklahoma on March 27, 1920, to Emanuel and Margareta (Nahrgang) Irion. Growing up and attending school in Canadian County, Esther met Louie David Davis and they were married in June of 1937, and spent the next fifty-nine years together before his death on September 7, 1996. In the late thirties, they moved to Greer County and later to Missouri and several other locations before moving to Oklahoma City, Foss and later the Carter Community, where Esther lived until her health began to fail. In 2013, she moved to Sayre where she lived until her death. In her spare time, Esther loved working in her yard and garden, quilting, sewing and cooking, but most of all she loved the time spent with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Roland Davis; two sisters, Leota Grauman and husband Richard; Lena Grauman and husband Carl; one son, David Davis and wife Sharon; one daughter-in-law, Monalita Davis; one granddaughter, Angela Howell and a great grandson, Lynn Phillips, she is survived by three sons, Donald G. Davis of Tunas Missouri, Ronald Davis and wife Rosemary of Tunas, Missouri and Dale Davis and wife Diane of Carter; one daughter, Elizabeth V. Howell of Carter along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside services for Esther Davis will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Granite.
