Obituary for Ersa V. Kiker
Ersa V. Kiker was born February 8, 1919 in Altus, Oklahoma. He died on October 22nd, 1990at the Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a l;ife long resident of Altus, OK. He graduated from Altus High School in 1939. He was a regional Baton Twirling Champion of Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army with "I" Company 119th Infantry, 30th Division. He was in the LP Gas business with his Father, George Kiker, and was the first LP Gas Dealer in Jackson County. He served on the Oklahoma Liquified Gas & Petroleum Board for 12 years having been appointed by Governors Johnson, Murray, Edmondson and Gov. Henry Bellmon. He served as Sanitation Superintendent for Jackson County over 13 years. He was the past-President of the Kiwanis Organization and longtime supporter and donor of Oklahoma Football. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Brown.....of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Kathy Pickering of Atlanta, GA; three grandsons, Jason Pickering and Eli Pickering of Atlanta, GA; Curt Brown of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one half-sister, Monna Meinger of Edmond, OK.
Services are scheduled for 10 A.M.Friday, October 26, 1990 at the First United Methodist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Johnson and Rev. Joe Fredericks. Interment will be in the Altus City Cemetery ubder the direction of Tim's Funeral Home.
