Ernest Jay Goforth, 82, of Elmer, passed away Saturday, November 11, 1995, in a Lawton Hospital. Ernest was born September 15, 1913, in San Bluff, Oklahoma to John and Ernestine Hamilton Goforth.
On May 18, 1934, Ernest and Anna Baker were united in marriage. Anna preceded him in death in 1991. In 1952, the family moved from Soper, Oklahoma to Elmer, Oklahoma. Mr. Goforth was a retired farmer.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; one son, Harold Goforth; and by three sisters. He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis Stevens and Gary Stevens of Elmer, Oklahoma; Jeneta and Kenneth Potts of Ft. Worth, Texas; Marcia Fatkin also of Ft. Worth, Texas; three sons and two daughters-in law, Donald and Gloria Goforth of Cleburne, Texas; Troy Goforth of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Glen and Rhonda Goforth of Altus, Oklahoma; one sister, Mable Gibson of Farris, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and 8 Phyllis Stevens hildren.
