Obituary for Elmer Leroy Corrigan
Elmer Leroy Corrigan Elmer Leroy Corrigan, of Altus, Oklahoma passed away September 20,2000 at the home of his daughter and her husband, Judy and Ned Lunt in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 86. Elmer was born December 11,1913 in Liverpool, Brazoria, Texas to Thomas Edward Corrigan and Margaret Clodenia Wehrly. He married Harriett Madalyn Wilson September 3, 1938 in Texas City, Texas. In 1941 Elmer and Madalyn moved from Texas Ci9ty to Vidor, Texas where the family had a dairy farm until about 1958. He worked as an Insulator for The International Association of Heat and Frost Insulator and Asbestos Workers Local 22 until retirement. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served the youth of the church and had a strong influence in their lives. His love of sports found him playing and coaching for many years. Elmer and Madalyn served a mission for their church in 1983-1984 in St. George, Utah. Elmer is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ernest Corrigan of Altus, Patrick and Shirley Corrigan, also of Altus and Robert and Robin Corrigan of Texas City, Texas; one daughter and her husband, Judy and Ned Lunt of San Antonio, Texas; nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother,, Raymond and his wife Evelyn of Decatur, Texas and ;one sister, Bertha Hill of Fredericksburg, Texas. Elmer is preceded in death by his wife, Madalyn his parents, and two brothers. Funeral Services are set for 10:00 AM Saturday, September 23, 20000 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Dennis Brown presiding and conducting. Burial will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2000 at The Church of Jesus Christ ;of Latter-Day Saints from 8:30-9:30 AM Saturday, September 23, 2000. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family for Family Research in care of Judy Lunt, 6207 Rue Sophie, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
