Obituary for Ellen Ida Lawhorn
Ellen Ida Lawhorn, age 65, of Altus, passed away Thursday, April 25th, 1996 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Ellen was born January 27th, 1931 at Worcester, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Almon Church and Loretta (Haggett) Church. On August 18, 1962, Ellen and Rufus Lawhorn were united in marriage at Riverside, CA. Ellen and her family came to the Altus area in 1972.

Mrs.Lawhorn was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War #4876 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing bingo. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who loved her family dearly and was raising her 6-year-old grandson, Eddie Ray Moore.

Mrs. Lawhorn was preceded in death by her parents, Almon and Loretta Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Rufus Lawhorn of the home in Altus; eight children and their spouses, Dianna and Steve Woodrum of Oklahoma City, OK, Dana Moore of Altus, Daryl and Cindy Moore of Fremont, MI, Dennis and Amy Moore of Las Vegas, NV, Denise Hollis of Blair, OK, Paul and Linda Lawhorn of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Almon Lawhorn of Altus, and Glen Lawhorn of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Evelyn Church of Chesterfield, MA; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Ralph Challet of Williamsburg, MA, Dorothy and John Beaulieu of Chesterfield, MA and Debbie and Jimmy Higdon of Springfield, KY; eighteen grandchildren, including Eddie Ray Moore of the home; and nine great-grandchildren.
