Obituary for Elizabeth Joanne Melander
Mrs. Joanne Melander, age 40, died Sunday morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Services have been set for Tuesday at 4:00 P.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church in Lawton, officiated by the Reverend Elwyn Thurston, pastor. On Wednesday, a memorial service will be held at Lowell Memorial Chapel, Altus, officiated by the Reverend Don Calvert. Services in Altus have been set for 2:00 P.M. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.

Born April 11th, 1930, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. T. A. Shackleford of Friendship. For the past eighteen years she taught in the Lawton Public Schools System. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Leah Kay of the home; one sister, Mrs. Leon Barnes of Friendship; one brother, Wilbur Schackleford of Friendship; three aunts, Mrs. Jessie Harris of Friendship, Gladys and Zelva Knox of Altus; three uncles, Douglas Knox of Altus, Leonard Knox of Blair, Frank Knox of Friendship; a niece Mrs. Twila Bearden of Santa Fe, NM.
