Obituary for Elizabeth A. Peyton
Elizabeth Ann Peyton, 90, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the English Village Manor Nursing Home in Altus.
Beth was born April 16, 1919, in Blair, Oklahoma, to C.J. and Etta (Whisenant) High. She grew up in Jackson County and graduated from Blair High School. Beth later attended Oklahoma State University, known then as Oklahoma A & M, where she played basketball. Beth married Marvin Peyton and they had two children. Beth loved to work and was an accountant for the City of Altus. She also had her own business, Peyton Bookkeeping, in Altus for over thirty-five years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi in Altus for over fifty years, but in her later years, Beth became an avid OU fan. She was a very loving and giving woman to her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin Peyton, a son, Johnny Charles Peyton, a daughter, Marilyn Diane Payne, three sisters, Bonnie Lowry, Lucille Osborn, and Lela Trinamin, and three brothers, Frank High, Leroy High, and William High, Beth is survived by two grandchildren, Lori Holman and husband Kevin of Clermont, Florida, and Justin Peyton and wife Kelli of Cincinnati, Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua Holman, John Holman, and Michael Holman, Emma Peyton, Jackson Peyton, Garrett Peyton, and Cooper Peyton; one sister, Ayleen Wilson, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
