Obituary for Eldon Dwight Branigan
Eldon Dwight Branigan, 81, of Euless, TX, passed away Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021, with his family by his side after a short illness.

Dwight, to his friends and loved ones, was born December 19, 1939, in Hollis, OK to William Alden and Liliah Caruth (Lewallen) Branigan. He was the oldest child, his siblings being Galen Alden Branigan and Gary Lain Branigan.

He grew up on the Branigan Family Farm just outside Hollis, OK. On April 14, 1960, he married his sweetheart, Patricia Joyce Blankenburg, with whom he had four children, Kelly Branigan-Davis of Euless TX, Shelly Branigan-Olive of Haltom City TX, Lara Branigan of Euless TX, and Matthew Branigan of Euless TX.

After graduating Arnett High School in 1958, he attended Oklahoma State University before joining the United States Air Force. During his years in military he spent time in Salina, Kansas and Denver, Colorado before being transferred to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX. Soon after his discharge from the military, he relocated to Euless, TX to join ECC (Electronic Control Corporation, later to become Teccor) as an Electrical Engineer. In 1998, when his employer moved the Final Test area to their facility in Matamoras, Mexico, Dwight, his wife Patricia, and grandson Scott relocated to Rancho Viejo, TX (near Brownsville, TX). Upon his retirement in 2001, they returned to the family home in Euless, TX.

His hobbies and interests included collecting and repairing old clocks and radios, still photography, and Dad jokes. Among his favorite movies were Spaghetti Westerns (Man with No Name), Dune (David Lynch), The Hunt for Red October, The Court Jester, and The Quiet Man. He also shared a lifelong love of music with his family and friends which included a diverse array of artists including The Ventures, Duane Eddy, the Kingston Trio, Marty Robbins, Pink Floyd, Blondie, Tangerine Dream, Tran Siberian Orchestra, and Lindsey Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Alden Branigan and Liliah Caruth (Lewallen) Lewis, wife, Patricia Joyce (Blankenburg) Branigan and one daughter, Lara. He is survived by three children, Kelly Branigan-Davis of Euless TX, Shelly Branigan-Olive and son-in-law, Joel Olive of Haltom City, TX, and Matthew Branigan of Euless TX, and his five grandchildren: Joshua Alan Davis, Sarah Olive, Rachel Olive, Daniel Olive, and Scott McCorkle (who he continued to raise after the passing of his daughter Lara and wife Patricia). He is also survived by his two brothers and their wives, Galen and Kaye Branigan of Amarillo, TX, and Gary and Dianna Branigan of Arlington, TX. He will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. His Family takes comfort that he has now joined his wife Patricia and his daughter Lara in eternal rest.

Dwight leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family. He provided a safe harbor, shared in their joys as well as burdens, and was always present to guide them to calmer waters.
