Ed Clendennen, age 69, a longtime resident of Blair, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at his home in Blair.
Ed was born in Sweetwater, Texas on February 26, 1947 to his parents George and Lillie Mae (Ballou) Clendennen. He grew up in Altus and at an early age joined the United States Navy where he served his country for three years during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. After the Navy he lived in Wichita, Kansas and married Antoinette Ciccone. Later Ed met and married Connie Maxwell on January 18, 1980 in Hutchinson, Kansas and they have enjoyed over 37 years of marriage together. Ed worked several jobs throughout his life including, hauling hay in Altus and driving trucks for Jewett-Scott Trucking out of Mangum. He later went to technical school and worked for Boeing and Cessna. Ed and Connie moved to southwest, Oklahoma and have resided in Blair for many years and Ed worked as a Simulator Tech for CAE USA at Altus Air Force Base. He was baptized in the Baptist Church and was a Mason for many years. Ed enjoyed camping and fishing, reading and watching Sci-Fi books and shows, he played guitar in bands when he was younger, but most of all Ed loved his family and always took care of them, he treasured time spent with his family and especially all of his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his father; his father and mother-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Maxwell; two grandsons, Anthony Marsh and Robert Whatley and his nephew Timmy Clendennen; Ed is survived by his wife Connie (Maxwell) Clendennen of the home; his mother, Lillie Mae Clendennen of Altus; three sons, Christopher Marsh of Wichita, Kanas; David Marsh and wife Amy of Wichita, Kansas; and Jon Dickenson and wife Brandy of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Kimberly Fedd of Wichita, Kansas; Stephanie Marsh of Wichita, Kansas; and Rebecca Whatley and husband John of Russell; his twin brother, Eddie Clendennen and wife Sharon of Altus; two sisters, Sue Brand and husband Jim of Altus; and Loretta Hillard of Altus; eighteen grandchildren, Eric and Donovan Marsh; Taylor Clark; Lincoln and A.J. Marsh; Andrea, Adrian, Andru, and Ashley Marsh; Emily, Gracie, and Wyatt Whatley; Christina and Zoey Dickenson; Elizabeth, Chloe, and Harley McDaniel; and one great grandson, Ramel Marsh; as well as nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Baker officiating.
Interment will follow at Blair Cemetery with military honors rendered by the United States Navy and Masonic Rites.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude"s Childrens hospital in honor of Ed Clendennen.
