Obituary for Edith Marie Conditt
Edith Marie Noble Gordon Conditt, 86, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Edith was born November 20, 1924, in Stamford, Texas, to Octa Mae (McCann) and Edward Spencer Noble. On November 1, 1941, she and Jess Riley Gordon were united in marriage. He preceded her in death in June of 1976. In March of 1978, she married Roy Ralph Conditt and he passed away in December of 2005.
She was a hard worker and worked for South Main Drug from 1955 until 1975. In 1990, she went to work as a Receptionist for the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission until she retired in March of 2003.
Edith was a member of the Altus Rebecca Lodge and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was fun loving and enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, and dancing.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, Jess Riley Gordon and Roy Ralph Conditt; one son, Michael Robert Gordon; her mother, Octa Mae Thomas, and her stepfather, Harvey Garfield Thomas.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Kay Alewine of Pampa, Texas; one grandson, Mark Lee Alewine of Dallas, Texas; three granddaughters, Kathey Lynn Rice and husband Kirk of Pampa, Texas, Shawna Gordon of McLoud, Oklahoma, and Christy Gray and husband Billy of Blair, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Karami Rice of Pampa, Texas; and great-grandsons, Scott Gordon, Tyler Gray, and Brayden Gray, all of Blair, Oklahoma.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Chapel. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
