Obituary for Edith Mae Brooks
Edith Mae Brooks, age 65, of Mangum, passed away early Thursday, July 4, 2013, at her residence.
Edith was born in Stafford, Virginia on April 6, 1948 to Raymond Allan and Louise Virginia (Shackelford) Decatur. Edith attended school in Stafford and was a member of the 1966 graduating class. On November 18, 1971, she would marry Albert Lewis Brooks Jr., better known as Sonny, and they would spend the next 41 wonderful years together before her death. They made their first home in Caroline County, Virginia and lived there for thirty three years before moving to Mangum. Edith loving spending time with her family and in her free time she enjoyed playing cards, bingo and going bowling.
Preceded in death by her mother and one brother, David William Decatur, Edith is survived by her husband Sonny of the home; two children, Jennifer Angel and partner Roel Padron of Mangum and Raymond Brooks of Spotsyvania Virginia; ten grandchildren, D.J. Calixte, Courtney Padron, Destiny Goslin, Anniston Brooks, Savanna Johnson, McKenzie Brooks, Darren Padron, Jared Padron, Bradley Pardon and Alexandra Padron-Kyle and husband Brandon; one great grandchild, Waylon Kyle; her father Raymond Decatur; one sister, Patricia Jaco and husband Richard of Fredericksburg, Virginia; one brother, James Decatur and wife Diana of Rhoadesville, Virginia along with many more nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
A memorial service for Edith Mae Brooks will be at 2:00pm Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Greer Funeral Home chapel with Chaplin Erin Martinez officiating and under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
