Obituary for Eddie Maldonado Escobar
Eddie “Gus” Maldonado Escobar,54, resident of Martha, Oklahoma, passed away on October 18, 2021 in Altus, Oklahoma. Eddie was born on April 8, 1967, in Lubbock, Texas to Gonzalo and Beatrice (Maldonado) Escobar. Eddie attended Lubbock High School, and immediately after he graduated, Eddie joined the United States Air Force. Eddie married the love of his life, Barbara on December 22, 1988. Of this marriage the two were blessed with two children, Victoria, and Matthew.
Eddie proudly served his country for twenty-four years. During his time in the Air Force, he had numerous jobs. He was Crew Chief for over 140 airplanes, he was chosen to be a part of the 4 Start General Flight Crew and eventually served on one of 3 planes which protected President George W. Bush during a time of heightened alert. In his later years of service, Eddie served as an MTI instructor for 3rd Phase students. The Southwest Oklahoma Air Force flight line eventually gave him a nickname of “Gus.” After his dedicated service to his country, Eddie retired in ??? and went on to serve an additional 9 years in Civil Service. After his military retirement, the family settled in Martha, Oklahoma. He loved family and his home was full of life from his 3 grandchildren. Jaidynn, Joshua Derek and Mckinliegh.
He was privileged to see his son Matthew follow him into the military and add two more grandchildren Harley and Emmett to his life.
Special Mention goes out to his mother-in-law (whom he loved and shared many laughs) Helen Henry who preceded him in death.
He is survived in his home by his wife Barbara; 3 grandchildren Jaidynn, Joshua Derek, and McKinleigh, daughter Victoria Escobar and companion Micheal Toahty of Oklahoma City, son Matthew Escobar and companion Sabrina Gomez and their two children Harley and Emmett, his parents Gonzalo and Beatrice Escobar, two brothers Gonzalo and William Escobar, two sisters Gloria Escobar, and Irma Escobar, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and extended family members.
