Obituary for Ector E. Lawson
Ector E. "Tex" Lawson, 86, a longtime resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away November 8, 2022, at Magnolia Nursing and Rehabilitation in Altus, Oklahoma.
Ector was born March 22, 1936, on the family farm east of Altus, Oklahoma to Robert and Fannie Kate (Simms) Lawson. At a young age, the Lawson family moved to San Angelo, Texas and later to Waco, Tx. He attended La Vega High School in Bellmead, TX. At the age of 17, Ector was a survivor of the 1953 Waco tornado after being buried for several hours. Looking for a way to serve his country Ector enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. Ector worked as an aircraft maintenance manager and then as an aircraft maintenance superintendent. During his time in the service, he was stationed at Yuma, Arizona, Reno, Nevada, Lake Charles, Louisiana, Okinawa, Japan, Johnston Island, Oscoda, Michigan and Altus, Oklahoma. Ector received numerous awards, medals, and citations for his hard work and dedication to the Air Force over his "twenty eight“year career. On October 31, 1981, Ector retired as a Chief Master Sergeant.
On October 5, 1957, Ector married the love of his life, Helen Melton in Las Vegas, Nevada. This marriage has lasted for 65 years, and was blessed by two children, Gary and Tina. His family was his everything, he loved to spend time with his family. During Ector's retirement, he enjoyed tinkering in his shop, hunting, fishing, and maintaining his yard. He spent hours sitting on his back patio listening to his old country music and watching Purple Martins and other birds that nested nearby.
Ector leaves a legacy of love and devotion for his family, his community, and his country.
Ector was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Fannie Kate Lawson; sisters, Bobbie Tate and Mozelle Wilson, and son, Gary Lawson.
Left to honor Ector's memory are his loving wife Helen of the home, daughter, Tina Bevers and husband Stan of Vernon, Texas; granddaughters, Dana Bevers of Vernon, Texas, Jana Ramirez and husband Jonathan or Portland, Texas, Jessica Rosenblad and husband Michael of Muleshoe, Texas; Grandson, Dustin Lawson of Wichita, Kansas; four great-grandchildren: Natalie & Nathan Ramirez, Michael & Kaitlyn Rosenblad, a brother, Edward Lawson and wife Olga of San Angelo, Texas; Sisters, Carolyn Nutt of Conroe, Texas, Linda Hornow of Huntsville, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews and other extend family members.

Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. , Friday, November 11, 2022 at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Altus City Cemetery, Altus, Oklahoma.

Services have been entrusted to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
