Obituary for Earlene G. Shive
Georgia Earlene Shive, 90, of Lindsay, Oklahoma, formerly of Altus, passed away Monday, October 4, 2010, in the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home.
Earlene was born June 15, 1920, in Altus, to Blaine and Mattie (Swindle) Norwood. She graduated high school in Altus and married Carrol Shive May 11, 1940, in Friendship, Oklahoma. In 1941, they left Altus and moved to Downey, California, where they lived until 1973. At that time, Carrol and Earlene moved to Lindsay and were members of the First Baptist Church there. Earlene loved to cook for her family and doted on her only granddaughter, Amanda.
Preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Carrol, who passed away in 2001, she is survived by one daughter, Carole deVries and husband Garrett of Lindsay, and one granddaughter, Amanda Bradford and husband Michael of Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Graveside Services for Earlene Shive will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Altus City Cemetery with Terry Brooks officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
