Obituary for Dorothy Pittman
Dorothy Jean (Monk) Pittman, born in Abbott, AR on August 1st, 1933 entered into God's Kingdom on July 19th, 2021. During her childhood years, she lived in Mt. Magazine, AR where she graduated high school in 1951. She married her true love, Claude Leroy Pittman, in Elk City, OK August 29th, 1953. A romance that lasted 47 years.

Mom and dad had lived in Las Cruses, NM, Elk City, OK until Altus, OK finally became their home town in 1956.

Mom was a member of First Baptist Church where she accepted Christ, her Savior. She was faithful to the choir and served in other ministries within her true home, her church family.

She is preceded in death by her beloved, Claude Leroy Pittman, her precious daughter, Claudia Jean Young, her two sisters, Minnie Montgomery and Mary Anne Graham and a granddaughter, Lacy Marie Pittman.

As we celebrate this glorious occasion as mom received her Heavenly Wings, she is survived by two sons, Roy Glen Pittman, Roger Alan Pittman and Perry Hatch, who was like a son to her. Four beautiful grandchildren, Cassandra Renee Young, Mandy Annette Lemus, Allyson Lee Pittman and Chyna Faith Pittman and eight amazing great-grandchildren.

Other surviving family members who loved mom so unconditionally are Roberta Simpson, Tammie Montgomery Donley, John Kevin Montgomery, Don and Faith Young, Robyn Young and Shermen Lemus.

Mom was just that, a mom that was nurturing until she knew us kids would be okay through her wisdom and guidance. She ventured out and became a driver for Southwest Transportation but later found her gift. She became a driver for the Altus Independent School System for the handicap. It was so touching for her to see their faces every day as the mom and the students gave a smile and a hug.

Mom loved to read and study her Bible every single day. She always had a passion for sewing and knitting. She was a phenomenal seamstress. Not many could beat her at doing crossword puzzles and word search puzzles. Mom's first love always will be her time to spend time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mom loved everyone, did not matter your background. She should be remembered as having a special mission as she always loved those in prison, no matter what they had done. She simply shared the gospel and wanted others to know Jesus as she knows Him. She would tell all to live life to the fullest, love people unconditionally and accept a Risen Savior for the love of Her Heavenly Father.
