Obituary for Doris Marie Sampson
Doris Marie Sampson, 85, resident of Mangum, Oklahoma, passed away on February 22, 2022, at the Mangum city Hospital.
Doris was born on July 12, 1936, in Reed, Oklahoma, to James and Mary (Thompson) Pipkin. Early in life, she attended school and worked as was customary. On August 28, 1970, Doris married Cecil Sampson. Their devoted union spanned 31 years until Cecil’s passing in 2001. Doris dedicated her life to managing and maintaining their family home and caring for their children. She loved her family immensely and was the “model of motherhood”. She went to great lengths to ensure the care and happiness of her entire family.
Outside of running the house, Doris loved life’s simple joys. Camping and car rides, watching the news, especially the weather, and occasionally allowing herself to indulge in her favorite snacks: Big Red Soda and banana pudding. Doris poured kindness, compassion, and concern into the lives of those around her. She will be missed by everyone who crossed paths with her.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary Pipkin; her husband and best friend, Cecil Sampson; her daughters: Donna Morrison, Linda Austin, and Virginia Sampson; one brother, Jesse Daryl Pipkin; two sisters: Lois Rogers, and Earlene Gallaher; two sons-in-law: Ronnie Austin, and Jerry Walker; three grandchildren: Chris Roberts, Johnny Lee McDonald, and Shann Darden; and a special family member, Billy Payne.
Left to honor her loving memory are her sons, Cecil Sampson, and his wife Cassandra, and Curtis Sampson; Son-in-law, Tommy Morrison; Daughters, Barbara Lovett and husband Charlie, and Ruth Beal and husband Jr, and Carla Walker; Fourteen grandchildren, Sherry, Troy, Jennifer, Mark, David, Chris, Chuck, Tracey, Brian, Andy, Amy, Amanda, Kevin, and Shawna; As well as numerous great grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
