Obituary for David R. Hill
David Ray Hill, Sr., 76, long time resident of Altus, Oklahoma passed away February 9, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from complications of Covid, 19.
David was born on April 24, 1944 in Munday, Texas to Charlie E. Hill and Alice Oceana (Keeler) Hill. David was raised and educated in Childress, Texas. Upon Childress he met his future wife Barbara, she lived right next door to David. Following high school David enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on December 20, 1961. While on leave David married his childhood sweetheart Barbara Shoffner. During his time in the Corps David was a stationed in San Diego, California, Okinawa, Japan, and finally Yuma, Arizona. Barbara and David were blessed with two sons, David, Sr. born in 1966, and Paul born in 1969. David was the owner of Dave's Barber Shop in Altus, Oklahoma. In 1997, David became a free mason and joined masonic lodge #62 in Altus, Oklahoma. He was Guthrie Scottish Rite in Guthrie, OK (32-degree mason), a member of India Shrine Center in OKC, member of Altus Shrine Club and Altus "Swokies" Parade Unit in Altus. He took great pride in being a Free Mason and mentored many new members.
He is survived by his wife of Barbara Hill of the home, two sons, David Ray Hill, Jr. and his wife Vickie, Paul DeWayne Hill, two grandchildren, Sarah Amber Dawn Hill and her son, (great grandson) Trey Jackson Hill, Dalton M. Chappel, Ray Gilbreath, Crystal Gilbreath; great grandchildren, Weston Chappel, Tori Gilbreath, Aden Gilbreath, Serenity Garza, and Raven Garza. Brothers, Louie E. Hill, Mickey D. Hill; Sister, Sherry Hickman , a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and fellow lodge brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie E. Hill, Alice D. (Keeler) Hill, Brothers, Gary Don Hill, Douglas Clinton Hill, sister, Betty Gibson.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma.
